Visitation Ministries - Pastor Phil Kelley
Pastor Phil Kelley was born and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1970. He attended Concordia Theological Seminary in  Springfield, Illinois. He graduated and was ordained in 1974.  His first call was as Chaplain to the backstretch workers at the thoroughbred race tracks in New York. In 1979 he was called as pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on the south-side of Tucson.  He served as pastor for 14 years.  During this time he met and married Kittie. Together they have four sons, a daughter and 8 grandchildren. In 1996 he took a position as a prison chaplain at Eyman State Complex in Florence, Az.  He and Kittie then moved to Casa Grande that year. After serving almost 15 years at all levels including death row, he retired from the prison in 2010.  During that time he also  served as supply pastor to Christ Lutheran in Coolidge and interim pastor at Sonland Lutheran in Casa Grande. His hobbies are painting, woodwork, hiking, swimming, gardening, puppets and traveling with Kittie in their RV.

Deacon - Dennis Dirks

Dennis Dirks was born and raised in Wisconsin.  He graduated with from Concordia University – St. Paul with a BA in Elementary Education (with a concentration of math and science) in 1971.  He earned his Master’s degree in School Administration and Curriculum in 1981 from Mankato State University.  He served as a LCMS teacher for 8 years (Janesville, MN), a LCMS principal for 32 years at Lutheran Schools in Minnesota and California (Sauk Rapids, MN; Wayzata, MN; Rochester, MN; Lancaster, CA; Livermore, CA).  At the age of 60, he enrolled in the seminary program called Cross Cultural Ministry working toward ordination and a Masters of Theology. This program is a non-traditional approach where the student serves as a vicar within his parish for four years while taking classes on-line during the school year and on campus during the summer.  This course of study was interrupted when the pastor left and Dennis “stepped in” to lead the congregation during an interim period.  As a result, Dennis is still a few classes from graduation.  Dennis and his wife, Lynn (also a LCMS elementary teacher) both “retired” in 2014 after serving in Livermore, CA for 15 years.  They have been married for 43 years.  They moved to Maricopa to be closer to grandchildren.  They have two adult children, Jonathan and Susan, and three grandchildren.  Dennis enjoys woodworking, reading, and wine tasting.

Preschool Director - Karla McDivitt
Karla was born and raised in Akron, Ohio as the ninth of eleven children. While her Bachelor's degree is in Psychology, she has always been interested in creating environments where kids feel safe, loved and secure. Her teaching career began February 7, 1996 in Illinois; since then she has watched first-hand the way God uses a preschool ministry to make a difference in the lives of the students and families and the community in which it is positioned.

She has a Lutheran Teaching Credential as well as her Principal's Certificate, along with countless hours in the field where she has kept abreast of the best practices for children and staff. She is divorced and has a son who was born in June 2000. She enjoys singing, baking and playing volleyball.

She believes that every child can learn and that each child is uniquely created by God. She looks forward to walking alongside you as your director-teacher at TLC Preschool where together we can build a solid foundation for your student.
